Content marketing is defined as
“a marketing technique that creates and distributes valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and acquire clearly targeted audience with the purpose of driving profitable customer actions. “
In content marketing, storytelling is one of the most important techniques which can be leveraged by brands to leave a deep impression in the minds of their target audience. So why is it so important?
Firstly, every brand has its own value and mission to convey to its audience while the story has been proven to be the most powerful tool to do this job. Why? Because stories make your brand more genuine and human-connected. Instead of stating a standardized mission or value, telling them a vivid story makes it easier for them to memorize your brand and understand your value.
Secondly, by telling a story, you are actually creating meaning for your brand. Remember, storytelling is more than just a history statement but a clarification about why you are doing what you are doing now and what values can you bring to your audience. This can help your audience to see their potential problems in life and then make sense of their consumption decisions when they actually purchase your products or services.
“People do not buy what you do, they buy why you do it’ - Simon Sinek

Thirdly, stories enable you to add emotional triggers to better engage with your audience and create a point of difference for your brand. This is because the human brain is functioned to remember more emotional situations than physical activities. As such, they are more likely to remember your brand story and even share it within their social circles.
