Competitors are your best guide to start
As a startup business, it is easy to get stuck on content creation due to a lack of insights into current trends of your industry and the taste of target customers. However, your well-established and experienced competitors may know the solutions better than you. So how can you find them? Easy. Simply tap into the hashtags related to your industry, click into some posts which grab your eyes immediately under those hashtags and that’s it. Apparently, I’m not asking you to plagiarize their content, but you can definitely get some hints from their post to develop your own content.

Brainstorm is important
If you are a cafe owner, what content can you think of to post on your Instagram? Only your menus and dish photos? Noooooo!! Let’s get more creative by brainstorming. Ask yourself several questions before you start:
How do we make the dishes for our cafe?
What are the comments about my cafe?
When do people usually have their meals in my cafe?
What types of meal do they like most? Brunch or lunch or dinner?
What feelings can I create for my customers when they have meals in my cafe?
How do our people look like?
How can I capture some genuine reactions or moments of my customers when they feel like enjoying our dishes?

Use those questions to draw a mind map and see what associations can you make with your cafe. Then, figure out some visual demonstrations to deliver those ideas by using words, videos, pictures or stories on Instagram.
Don’t waste the talent of your customers
Community engagement is very important because that’s how you show your care to your customers and thus build a strong connection with them. By engaging in some online communities near your cafe shop and learning about some hot topics discussed in those communities, you can make some relevant posts to drive attention. So the key here is that you do not need to post content about your cafe all the time, if your content is interesting and valuable, people are very likely to click into your profile where you are more likely to transfer them into your real customers later.

Less is more
Foodie is all about art. Do you think there is only one way of photo shooting to demonstrate your beautiful dishes? Of course not. Sometimes details are more attractive than the whole plate. For example, instead of posting a complete dish, zooming in to catch the juicy bacon in the middle of a big brekkie would be more appetizing. Therefore, be mindful of small details and you will get tons of inspirations.
